Enjoy a lovely afternoon of romantic masterworks by Johannes Brahms. The A Major Violin Sonata and E Flat Major Viola Sonata are probably the most lyrical of Brahms’s sonatas for upper strings and piano. The melodic conversational exchanges unfold with simplicity and refined power reflecting Brahms’s personality – his shy introspection and his passionate intensity. The Sonatas are balanced with the Scherzo bursting full of emotional upheaval tempered by moments of sweet hopefulness. Come be musically transported into the private world of Brahms.

The works of Johann Sebastian Bach are at the very core of western classical music. And this recital showcases Bach' mastery of counterpoint, harmonic and motivic organization. Both the violin double and viola double concertos rhythmically cascade with contrapuntal outer movements, sublime middle movements, and rich harmonic textures throughout. Come enjoy an afternoon of Bach's intellectually bold and exuberant musical character.
